Art Work
I am deeply concerned with environmental and socio-political issues, specifically those pertaining to responsible decision making regarding natural resources and sustainability of our planet for generations to come. My goal is to raise awareness, elicit a visceral response, and evoke an experience through my work in hopes of triggering a shift or change in viewers' perspectives, attitudes and actions. If they interact with it, think about it, feel it, or remember it, I have fulfilled my objective!
Content has always informed the medium I choose to work in. Earth-clay, is a medium of choice, and I very often mix it with straw to create cob-sometimes known as adobe. Children's Classes
After school classes for kids ages 6 and up. Children view art work across cultures and history, engage in art exercises and projects. Very fun and enriching! Creative problem solving and thinking outside the box while opening doors to discovery of self and the world around us through art! Have a peek at what we have been up to in the past and what we are doing today!

Birthdays & Other Special Events
Birthdays, celebrations and gatherings can become even more meaningful when engaging in art making together. Painting, drawing, mask making or family paintings or sculptures are all wonderful ways to be together! Please call or email to discuss what would best suit your occasion. Lisa Kaplan is a Lake County, CA artist and art educator. She has exhibited work in a variety of media since 1985 in the US and abroad, and exhibits regularly at Middletown Art Center in Lake County. As both an artist and educator her work is a means to participate in mending the world.
Co-founder and Executive Director of the Middletown Art Center, Lisa has a passion for art making, curating exhibits, teaching, and community building. She lead the founding team design and establishment of Lake County's first public charter school.
Following the Valley Fire which devastated nearly 1300 homes (including her own) and 70,000 acres of mountains and forest in her home town, she focused energies on evolving the Middletown Art Center to create space for solace, healing and enrichment through the arts for a rural and fire impacted community.
Having lived in Israel for 23 years she is also bi-cultural, which adds an extra layer of intensity to her person and art work.
